Traveling through Kentucky and Southern Indiana, one gets to see a cross section of America uncommon to most parts of the world. From the Appalachians to urban Louisville, this region of the country will show you extreme poverty, industrial opulence, innovative art and everything in between.
The music born out of the region is no different. The same state that produced Tom T. Hall and the Everly Brothers, also delivered bands like Slint and My Morning Jacket.
Throw in a Pentecostal Church altar call and one can appreciate the intensity coupled with the quiet, the punk with the country. The Clyde catalog echoes the Kentucky landscape; sparse, desolate, pretty, pissed, familiar and raw. For songwriter, Terry Miller, no topic is off limits, no emotion out of reach.
Accessible songs combining authenticity and a hook leave you thinking as much about what you felt as what you heard. After a few listens, you get to know a band writing great songs while not taking itself too seriously.
